If you’ve been following along for the last year or so, you’re probably very aware of our biggest project to date, #ProjectInLaws – which is now coming to an end.
My mother and father in-law are moving to Fredericton, New Brunswick and building their dream home to host and entertain their family and grand kids.
This 3800 square foot home (plus basement!) is perfectly placed on Fredericton’s Wolastoq (Saint John) River.
The views and colours outside have greatly influenced the design inside. Much to my mother-in-law’s delight, since her one request was *colour*, which we incorporated throughout the cabinetry.
They also loved the Modern Farmhouse feel on the exterior that we’re known for in Atlantic Canada. They knew they were looking for more of a Transitional Design inside.
This incredible home has been in the work’s for over a year now and I can’t wait for it to be completed in a couple of months!
Right now there are odds and ends to finish up: some plumbing trim, paint touch ups, cabinetry adjustments, and a few replacement light fixtures.
As well as some electrical work and siding on the detached garage, the exterior decking, and stone for the chimney. The landscaping will also be started soon.
Appliances are still arriving! The range is in, washer and dryer have arrived, however the fridge and dishwasher have been very delayed.
The appliances were ordered on boxing day in 2020, and these delays are (unfortunately) pretty common right now due to parts being made in factories across seas that have been shut down due to covid/major shipping delays etc.
A number of lighting, plumbing parts and sinks arrived damaged and the replacements have taken a while which has held us up a bit.
The complexity of the interior’s shiplap walls and stairs were elements that could not be rushed. The stair risers are the exact width of the shiplap on the walls and the finished look is perfect!
The exterior siding is a particular product that is also complex and required quite a bit of time for the install. But again, the end result was worth the wait!
Furniture and decor have been ordered, and a lot has already arrived. I am DYING to get in there and style it all, just in time for the holidays!
